visions of food

Each time that I climb upon my Townie bicycle with its clip-on market basket, I remember bike rides through the streets of Old Saybrook in Connecticut.  This coastal town complete with whitewashed picket fences and weathered beach cottages was a favorite destination during my college years.

As I pedal, I dream about vacationing there with my family.  I can see my very relaxed self... looking smart in a cotton sundress and wide-brimmed sun hat cycling along the seaside streets to the local market.  Lazily wandering the aisles, I look for the perfect loaf of fresh bread, pasta, and a bottle of wine.  Fresh herbs and vegetables are gathered from a little garden at the side of the house.  I chop and dice, barefoot, of course.  A perfect dinner is served on the porch with the gulls circling overhead.  We sip from our glasses and listen to the waves crashing upon the shore.  The wine and food soothes our souls... we are in heaven.

Until our busy life allows for such a vacation, I will continue to surf your submissions of gorgeous food, like the one shown below by House On Hill Road and read my favorite food blogs, Baked Bree and Honey and Jam.  Take some time to visit with them and share some love.

Do you have any dreams that feature food? I mean those that do not involve chocolate?

Until next week. Stay sweet. ♥ tammy of bliss and folly

I'm in love with this entire post. Love the images (both of 'em), love the words. I want that bicycle and that basket and the crisp vegetables and those red shoes.

Yum! I could just grab the food from the photo. Perfect. I love that bike and pink bell. It makes me want to go take a ride myself.

Cycling and food. It doesn't get more perfect than that. And I adore those shoes peeking out in the house on the hill road's pic.
