just gettin' er done sometimes

Oh boy, have we had a busy summer. A new house with a full basement reno. Full time, freelance jobs & volunteer gigs. Friends visiting, music festivals-a-going, photo-taking & commissions. Toss in a couple of blogs & flickr just for good measure. Add some precious alone time with my man - and on my own equals a recipe for take-out only in the food department I'm afraid. I've tried to spice it up I just don't have it in me after a long week. Its a darn good thing pizza is a favourite in our house b/c we're filling up on it this year. We are doing a lot of lifting our hands to our mouths in silence after the day has ended. What I wouldn't do for one of kellyk09's uncomplicated cookies right about now.

Share with me today what your go-to food is. When you're in a pinch what's the easiest for you and yours?

til next time muser peeps!

The only thing that grows consistently in our garden is kale, so when there's nothing else to eat it's kale frittata for dinner. Easy, yummy. Or pasta and kale with goat cheese if we're out of eggs.

Pizza and cookies work well too. Love both these photos!!

Uncomplicated convenience food! Good old pasta with sauce (whatever is in the cabinet) and a sprinkle of parmigiana reggiana is our staple for those times when we don't know what else to do.

it's fresh mushrooms for me - slowly fried in olive oil =)

since we are a family of eight, nothing seems uncomplicated. But lucky for me, all of the kids, and myself included, could be happy and content with a LARGE bowl of simple sesame noodles. Simple to make and uncomplicated.

It's funny to me that most of us seem to default to some kind of pasta...my simple in a pinch meal is baked ziti. But my goodness, blue elephant makes me want some mushrooms now :-)

Since I only have to feed myself these days, my go to meal is a bowl of cold cereal, granola without raisins thankyouverymuch.
Love that photo of the cookies, fabulous processing.

We are lucky to have an Indian restuarant down the road which we frequent on a regular basis. Your pizza looks so melty in your mouth. And those biscuits! Just bliss.

Another pizza person here (I buy the ready made dough from Whole Foods over by the pizza oven -yummy!) although home made macaroni and cheese is high up there ... i add either broccoli or cauliflower when the noodles are cooking and that assuages any guilt as i pour oodles of melted cheese over the lot! While it's baking a quick salad and we're good to go.
