Living in London I am surrounded by iconic forms of transportation. Taxis, buses and trains. But having spent the week trying to photograph all of these, I realised that they just weren't dreamy enough for me. They were more about the destination. All those buses and taxis and trains were for getting somewhere and going to particular places (at least, for us Londoners). I thought back to our Summer and our day trips to Oxford where it's not the destination that is important. It's the lying back in the punt (a long wooden boat pushed along with a pole) and enjoying the ride.
Carole's picture reminded me of these lovely dreamy afternoons.
As Rat says in the Wind in the Willows, "There is nothing--absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats". And I would have to agree. I can't wait for those long summer afternoons again.

So pretty. I love water.
Thank you so much Kirstin for choosing my shot to accompany your own
love your twist on the theme!
Another original interpretation and some great shots! I am also looking forward to summer, boats, water, and lazy days!
You really put things into perspective - and even though I may be going this weekend...I will keep this in mind!
What a great way to look at the world around us
Kyle would like to come and punt with your kids. :)
I love those tones in your photo. And I love when the journey is the whole point. i had a friend who had a sweet little convertible sports car. We used to look for the longest most scenic route when we traveled.
i almost forgot about wind in the willows -- thank you for the reminder!
i'm all about the journey, thanks for the reminder : )
