delicious food

Nourishing {day 218}

For me food is a lifestyle, a way of living. I like to go to dinner parties and I like long breakfasts lasting a couple of hours chatting away with friends as we eat. I like to have people around me while eating. It tastes better that way.
And I like to eat very much. I could eat more than you think I can. And I have weird attachments to food. I connect memories with it. Maybe that's just me... ;)
My babysitter always used to make us a chocolate spread slice of bread like pictured above. He gave it us as comfort food and this is still what I connect with it. Warmth and being taken care of. How wonderful a slice of bread can make me feel :)
I really liked deannamaire's picture, not because it is looks beautiful but because of what it says. I'd like to share the quote she posted along with this, it is so inspiring!

As one grows older one should grow more expert at finding beauty
in unexpected places, in deserts and even in towns,
in ordinary human faces and among wild weeds.

See you in nine days again. Keep inspiring me.

I completely relate to the idea of comfort food. When I got home from school as a kid, my sister and I would spread butter and brown sugar on bread for our after-school snack. The thought of it now makes my teeth hurt, but in my memory it was the most delicious thing ever.

I definitely have memories of food... homemade macaroni and cheese comes to mind. I picture my dad and I making it when my mom would be out for the evening. It was "our" meal to share. It is still my ultimate comfort food. :)

Oh Suki, those Schokostreusel-Brote!!! My husband still loves them and my daughter seems to have it in her genes as well. Whenever we go back to Germany to visit, Schokostreusel are on our shopping list. Love this photo!

I love that quote too.

I couldn't agree more - for me food is often about the social aspect. Sharing a good meal and good conversation with friends is the best way to spend a few hours.
