This theme has been my favorite so far. I love vintage things and I have really enjoyed looking all the photos of your antiques and reading the stories about them in the Mortal Muses flickr group. My home is full of hand-me-downs and old beloved items. The most difficult part of this theme was deciding what to photograph. My current infatuation is my vintage camera collection; they rest on a shelf above my computer desk, where I enjoy them every day. And I must not be the only one loving old cameras, judging by the number of photos of vintage cameras in the flickr group.
One of my favorites is this little Brownie Hawkeye I love that it’s so compact and light. I like to imagine the moments that it captured, the everyday beauty & special occasions so many years ago. This little gem sits on a shelf, that belonged to my mother, and hung in her room when she was a young girl. It's where she displayed her favorite things. The vintage blocks were a lucky find at a tag sale this spring.
This photo by Grimble2010 reminded me of my cameras sitting in a row on the shelf. I love how her processing gives a beautiful soft vintage feel to the image, like you've taken a step back in time. I like to imagine someone long ago taking this old beauty along on a walk, looking for the light, carefully taking the time to craft an image, to record something special.
See you in the flickr pools . . .
