smelling the coffee...

morningstop

Long before my daughter was born, mornings were my time.  I'd get up, exercise, and sit alone with my bowl of cereal and cup of coffee, reading a book or a magazine and enjoying the peace and silence.  Occasionally I still manage to have those moments to myself but they are fewer and farther between, yet even more sweet because of their rarity.

Recently I've been overwhelmed by schedules and the need to check items off my list and feel productive, and it's been at the expense of my health and spiritual well-being.  We live in a GO society, but when I look back at my life it is the slower, sweeter times I remember, not necessarily the times of busyness or the striving for achievement.

So my mantra right now is STOP, presented to me like a gift on a plate as I took that moment to myself on a morning walk recently.

And doesn't this exquisite photo by Julie Alvarez evoke that same feeling of slowing down time?  I love that it represents her "breakfast for two" after their little lady is dropped at school (and doesn't steam create amazing shapes?  reminds me of this....).  Those are the moments whose images will live in our memory, whether or not it was captured in a photograph.

cheers,
mosey

beautiful. What could be better than sunshine and coffee?

Love this post. All of it...the words and the photos. That light is amazing. I'm so jealous (yes, I admit it) of those who have sunlight that pierces through the windows in the morning. Wonder if I could turn my house on its foundations. Probably not.

Ahhh, yes... being able to stop or at least say no. *sigh* I would love to sit at that table right now, read a good book and stop to smell the coffee. Great post. :)

I love the stop images. I think I need to put up stop signs all through the house so we'll be reminded to take a breath and enjoy the moment. Here's the first one I'll start with: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40070449@N08/4524886110/

I like slow, but often get caught up in whatever and find myself clenched. Then it is time for a reminder, like your photo. Both images are lovely.
