what makes you happy

Do you ever have photos that just make you smile inside? This one does for me. While the bright colors and interesting composition of these tiny flowers in the Barcelona flower market were the inspiration to take this photo, it's the inspiration that came from the photo itself that is the story for me. Because this image made me happy, I posted it on my blog, and was surprised at the response. I got quite a few comments, even from people who had never commented before. Turns out it made a lot of other people happy too! This became the photo where I really and truly realized that when I follow what makes me happy in my photography, what inspires me, I can make other people happy. I can inspire them. My photography can connect with others in a way I never expected.

I find it amazing that there is such power in a simple photo. The words of Ruff Edge Design for her photo tell another way a photo can inspire: "This is the image I chose for the first iteration of my website. I have this photo framed, and when I take the time to notice it, I see it at the top of the stairs, and I smile. I never considered myself a photographer, never thought I'd be any good at it, but this photo gave me hope. It told me that I have potential."

Potential, indeed! When we follow what makes us happy, what inspires us, wonderful things happen.

Thank you, Kat. I agree with you about the power of photos. I love the way your very colorful flowers contrast with the white cones. My mom used to have tiny flowers, exactly like those, in a little vase in the dining room, so your photo makes me especially happy.

So many people are afraid of color when it comes to decorating. Just look to nature and photos like these to see how well colors actually harmonize with each other.

When I look at your beautiful photos I think I would love to do that. But mine don't seem to have the passion or beauty that yours do. So I will just really enjoy your photos and spare myself the brain damage!

It is such a happy photo. I love when you see a photo and you are just struck by it. You don't always know WHAT stirs up that feeling, but I think that is why it is so important to have a community of photographers who can inspire you, and make you happy with their photos. Thanks for sharing this pop of color for today :)
