I love capturing my children as their natural, innocent selves. This pictures speaks volumes to me, as a photographer and a mother. Telling their story instead of a forced posed shot that usually ends up with somebody in tears. I am always inspired by pictures that tell a story and evoke emotion to its viewer.
Now let me tell you why I think this picture is so awesome and funny:
1. Mr. M loves to ring the door bell, he is asking if he can
2. Ralph is anxiously waiting to see if he will ring the door bell (and yes he will bark even when he is on the outside, dumb dog!)
3. The kids were just in their kiddie pool so their diapers are HUGE
4. Ms L's belly! I.LOVE.IT :)
Also this was taken on a day that I was not in the mood to take a picture and feeling very uninspired (I am committed though since I am doing a 365) I kept my camera with me, and this is literally the last picture I took that day. Now it is one of my very favorites and is hanging in my house as a 30 x 40 canvas!
I love this picture by Misty Garrison because of the wonderful tender moment she was able to capture. I will share what she wrote in her description because her words are beautiful!
"Why I love photography:
Because even a mere amateur, wanna-be photographer like myself can get lucky and capture a moment like this. A moment so raw and real. Not a forced pose, but instead my people as they really are.And while there is probably something I could do to make this a better technical photograph, it moves my soul as it is. I feel blessed that this precious moment between my beloved and my little one will forever be mine.
And yes, I could sit and look at it all day except for the fact that I have the real deal running around with her arms lifted up behind her as her very own makeshift Tinkerbell wings and my Steven nestled on the couch with me in a way that makes it difficult to determine where he ends and I begin. My cup runneth over."
Thank you Misty for sharing. Now, get out and shoot and may you been inspired to seek out a story in whatever you are photographing!
April of april's 365

I so love the story behind the first photo - I do believe photography is about more than the technical skill, but is about the story.
Those are the best kind of photos. They are beautiful for the emotion they inspire {and beautiful for the darling babies in them} wonderful post April.

I love both (actually all three) photos shown in this post!
Great shot of the kids and the story makes it priceless! Just another everyday scene that. They will outgrow far too quickly and you will miss when its gone. So glad you captured it!
I want to chew on that belly...so adorable!
I love both photos and the stories behind them. So wonderful. AND I love the dewy grass photo for the giveaway. wow.
I love what you show and tell about photos as stories, April. These are delightful and precious.
I took a photojournalism class in college and it was all about capturing the story. Shooting with that in mind totally changes my photography. Sometimes I want to shoot more artsy and sometimes more journalistically. Love all these photos. Just wonderful!!
Gorgeous! Simply Gorgeous!
i loved hearing the legit details of what was happening in the first picture. Very close to what I was thinking. And beautiful words for both of the photographers in this post!!!
Just love the story behind the photo. All three "children" are connected yet doing their own thing. And the belly - kissable!
i love your babies! they are always so natural!
I love candid photos of people! The expressions on their faces are classic!
I love that photo April, you have caught such a joyful moment.
Super great--the reminders and the photos---brilliant!
Where have I been? I just found this website. I am amazed. The Slice of Life Class sounds amazing.
I love the photo of the kids at the front door.
Candid portraits are my favourite too...these are both such beautiful pics, April.
As a mother, I think we have so many opportunities to take photos that speak to our soul. Often I find photos that just sing to me. I love photography for giving me the ability to capture that.
I loved this post. I can really relate. Thanks!
