the halflight of morning

As I think I may have mentioned, I could have happily lived in an earlier time -- the 19th century calls my name.  My favorite books are ones where the heroine must rise in the halflight of morning and wash in a porcelain basin, perhaps cracking the skim of ice from the surface first.  The Little PrincessJane EyreThe Tenant of Wildfell Hall

But then the glorious morning light would warm our heroine as she stoked the fire and gazed out the window to the fields beyond.   And day would just be dawning.  And it would be beautiful.

Circulating's photograph takes my breath away.  May all our days begin like this.

Until next time.

The first photo reminds me of a basin that was in my great-grandmother's house.
I also love the light and the color breaking through the fog and the night for the cows. Wonderful choices for this theme.
I like the *idea* of living in an earlier time too--but maybe only for a brief visit... 15 years without central heating or flush toilets made me hungry for modern comforts. I am a wimp--hate to see my breath indoors. ; )

I can almost see Mr Darcy walking across that field, while the heroine washes her face, not expecting his call...gorgeous pics!

If I could live in an earlier time with hot showers, I might consider it if only for the beautiful STUFF. Love that basin and the soft dreamy feel you gave the photo.

And Kirstin's right - helloooo Mr. Darcy!

Love these photos, love your words. I too could have lived in an earlier time. I always romanticized about that when I was younger :)

Light, glorious light. good morning Miss Lucy, I for one am glad you are here, now - b/c I don't want to scrub my clothes on a washboard - I do however have a crush on the word heroine. Awesome shots love. xox

I could very easily live in these days. I love everything vintage. But can I please bring my internet?

The cows in the early morning fog was what she probably saw as she looked out the window!! Lovely images!!

I always thought I would have like to grow up in the 60's. I consider that as 'earlier times' as I would like to be.
Your morning photos are brilliant though. As I get older I am discovering a newfound love of the peace and calm of morning.
